Hmmmm, I'll have to take a second look. I got so excited when I saw a Dramione piece I didn't post :) but the first few paragraphs were such a WHINY Draco (seriously, pouting, sulking, hysterical? FFS, let the guy grow up!) that I closed out.

Oh, I actually adore whiny Draco, so it didn't occur to me that it might be a turn-off for people!

I will say, though, that were I in Draco's position in that fic, I would whine so much, if that helps. Total embarrassment galore. XD

With what you said, can't guarantee that you'll like the fic, but I do recommend giving it a second shot, just to be sure. :)

Seconding. I don't even find him whiny, just appropriately exasperated. Like you, I'd be going shithouse in that situation, lol.

It's worth giving another try, especially as it only gets better and better IMO. Thanks for the rec!

Yay, glad you liked it! Yes, so hear ya on the 'someone is going to die' reaction in that kind of situation. I cannot even imagine having to deal with that situation. XD

Yeah, I can't stand him written that way. It makes me think that the author has stuck him permanently in first-year mode. I honestly expected to see "my father will hear about this" somewhere in the first few paragraphs. If a piece is going to be set post-war or anomalous future, where the characters are supposedly adults, then allow them to act like adults instead of children. He can be written as irritating and complaining without resorting to the type of descriptions that would be more appropriately applied to a tween in the middle of a past-bedtime tantrum.

Hm, well, I do sympathize with Draco in that situation, because if it were me I'd be doing the whining + a side of homicide. Don't know if you've read the fic yet, but it is an embarrassments galore situation. :P

I guess the fic also works for me because it's Hermione's POV, and I saw her as doing this whole 'Oh, Draco is acting so childishly' when she's actually repressing her own absolute mortification about the situation by trying to spin it - to herself - as Draco's overreaction, when it's actually kind of a situation where he's completely justified for exploding. (Embarrassment galore). XD

So, that was my take on things, in that Hermione's narration was meant to be read as unreliable, because we do see in the fic that she's trying to spin the situation to herself. :)

Ah, then that's a good reason not to read it, for me. I hate fics where the entire purpose is to embarrass or humiliate a character. (Unless it's a kink and that's what they want, and even then it's iffy for me.)

Oh, then I definitely don't rec this fic for you! It sounds like although this fic works well for my tastes, it wouldn't do at all for yours. :)
