Big Bangs of Interest

I thought I'd come by and drop off announcements about some fests which might be of interest to the community!


werewolfbigbang

I signed-up to write Werewolf!Hermione and Animagus!Draco, and I'd totally love to see more Draco/Hermione (or Harry Potter) in this fest. It's a nice long fest too (January - May 2012).

edit - Also, stories for the Werewolf Big Bang can be posted on any journaling service (not just LJ) or personal website or AO3 for their initial reveal! There will be a post in the LJ community with links to the work and art, but the written work itself (and art and mixes) doesn't have to be posted on LJ. I know that I'm planning on posting my story on AO3. :)

January: Author check-in #1 (optional)
February 14: Author check-in #2 (optional)
March 18: Author check-in #3 (mandatory)
April 2nd, 2012: Rough drafts and summaries due
April 7th, 2012: Story summaries with warnings are posted for artists to select from
April 21st, 2012: Artist check-in (mandatory)
May 7th, 2012: Submission of final drafts and art
May 18th, 2012: Posting of art and fic begins

I'm thinking about that case story one. Not sure, not sure. I am horrible with plot.

Truth be told, with that one, if I were to do it I'd probably snag a prompt from the Aurors Prompt-Fest. Case fic/mystery plots/convoluted plots aren't my strong point either, so I'd definitely need a prompt!

The werewolf plot has been burning in my brain even before I heard of the Werewolf Big Bang (also, adorable husky puppy icon!) so I'm definitely doing that, but I hope that there's another round of the Case Story Big Bang next year, because I'd love to take some of the concepts from the Aurors Prompt Fest and apply 'em on a Big Bang time scale. Plus, it's on DW, which is a nice thing. :D

Addendum! I know that lots of people here are DW-focused, so I'm going to edit that werewolf big bang post to include the fact that the stories for it can be posted on any journaling service, public archive or AO3. So, if one does the werewolf big bang, one doesn't have to host/post the story on LJ. I know that made me a lot more comfortable with the idea of doing the big bang, because I really like posting first on AO3. :)

Taking a prompt from Aurors Fest is a good idea! That's got potential.

Yeah, part of the reason I'm looking at the case story one is because it's hosted on DW. I'm removing myself from most of the LJ-only fests I've done in the past and concentrating on DW/AO3-hosted. Lend my support to sites that I respect.

Mmhm, the DW-focus sounds like a good idea! :D

The Werewolf Big Bang is probably one of the last LJ-exclusive fests I'm going to do. Definitely glad that Deflower Draco is going to be mirrored over here, because I'd have a hard time resisting it otherwise! XD

Would it be okay if I swiped that end of year/beginning of year review format that you used for your 2011 and 2012 posts? It looks extremely handy!

The questions in the first part? I swiped those from somewhere else, so have at it. There are other questions on various versions (like "biggest disappointment" or "most underappreciated" but I picked the questions I liked best. XD

I'm going to experiment with actually planning out the year for writing, instead of doing it 2011 style (let me sign up for things! Oh no, everything for each month is due the same week! /dies). Yay for foresight! XD

Oh, in case you're still on the look-out for more DW events, I just found out that one of the big bangs I'm doing has now mirrored on DW. They also did some schedule extensions. :)

bigbang_mixup still has unclaimed mixes. #66, #71, #73 are HP and het-friendly. :)
