The Aurors Prompt-Fest: Claiming Still Open Until Works Due on January 8th

The Aurors Prompt-Fest is still open for signups and prompt-claiming! You can claim, write and post works until Sun 08 Jan 2012 08:00PM EST. More than one person can claim a prompt. You can also submit your own work to the collection without claiming a prompt, if you have an idea you want to explore.

I've rounded-up all the Draco/Hermione prompts, and a bunch of other gen or non-specified pairing prompts. Go to The Aurors Prompt-Fest to see more prompts and claim! :)

If you need an AO3 account, just leave your email in the comments or send me a PM, and I'll send you an AO3 invite!

Are you fan of cop dramas on TV? Is Mad-Eye Moody one of your favorite Harry Potter characters? Ever wish the series had chucked Quidditch in favor of more Defense Against the Dark Arts?

Then you would like The Aurors, the TV show that, alas, never existed. Except here, in fanfic form! This is a prompt meme inspired by that fan "trailer," for readers and writers who would love to see a grittier, more adult Harry Potter, focused on the men and women (and possibly some non-humans, too) who defend both the wizarding and Muggle worlds against evil magic.

Prompt: Draco is an Auror for an elite squad whose assignments are top secret with volatile missions which can sometimes mean being away for long periods of time. How does this effect the wife and family he leaves behind and what kind of danger are they in as a result of his job?

Prompt: Hermione got into trouble with a wizard mafia gang and has since been trapped in the gangs prostitution ring. Draco is an established Auror and the gang and all their criminal activity is an ongoing investigation for his team. - Author decides how Hermione got caught up in this and why she hasn’t already been rescued. How do she and Draco cross paths again? Is she a known street walker who is repeatedly brought in for soliciting and Draco always deals with her? Does he try to persuade her to help him? Has she been missing for years and her name comes up as a possible victim?

Prompt: Hermione and Draco have been together (either for awhile or just got together) and Hermione has been called to help Harry in his work. He's an Auror and on a special case re-investigating the pardoned Death Eaters. Harry wants Hermione to poke and prod into Draco's past and continuously report back to him.

Prompt: Any rating! One character must go deep undercover to gather information about an organization and its activities. During the process they get close to one person in particular. Does that person know they're an Auror? Do they act as an informant? Or do they know but play it to sinister advantage?

Prompt: Any rating! Witness protection program. Perhaps one is charged with the other's safety, or they are both working to protect another person. Tension from having to co-operate, of being in a stressful situation.

Prompt: Who ever thought that it'd be a good idea to have Malfoy and Granger work together? So far, there's been three requests for a transfer, two broken back-up wands, a gross-inflated hospital bill for a 'mauling by half-Kneazle', and one exceptionally fine pair of Dragonhide boots set on fire.

Prompt: Draco never saw a world where he'd be the Auror assigned to hunt down Hermione Granger.

Prompt: It is a well-known fact that the tea and coffee in the Auror department is the worst in the entire Ministry.

Prompt: Tampering with the evidence is ever so much easier when one has access to a time-turner.

Prompt: This is probably closer to the "order" side of law and order, but, what role do Aurors play in maintaining the International Statute of Secrecy? Are there maybe some Aurors who oppose the use of Obliviate on nonconsenting subjects, and if so, how do they do their jobs?

Prompt: Muggle cops grudgingly have to deal with psychic "tips" on occasion. In contrast, the Auror offices have an entire department of full-time Seers. Their effectiveness is open to interpretation.

Prompt: Being an Animagus and an Auror means ALWAYS getting stuck on the damned stakeouts.

Prompt: What exactly did the Aurors do when the Death Eaters took over the government? Some of them overtly backed the Order of the Phoenix, and I'm sure at least one or two went bad, but what did the rest do? (Start clandestine attempts to save who they could? Make deals and act as spies? Try to pretend they were still Fighting the Good Fight from the inside?)

Prompt: What happens when a case crosses jurisdictional boundaries? A British Death-Eater flees to the US or Canada or France or Ghana or Russia or whatever?

Prompt: A stakeout in Knockturn Alley has got to be incredibly boring, yeah? The sort of thing they saddle a rookie Auror and his new partner with when there's nothing else going on? There's nothing that could possibly go wrong with this setup, right? Right?

Prompt: Disciplinary procedures for a loose-cannon Auror! What's the equivalent of handing over the badge and the gun? The wand, obviously, but what else?

Prompt: An Auror department (in Britain or elsewhere) decides to integrate, opening up their ranks for the first time to non-human recruits.

Prompt: An Auror's husband must learn to live again after she loses her life in the line of duty. Can be set just after either of the wars with Voldemort, or it can be in any time period you like, from the past to the future.

Prompt: 21 Diagon Alley!
A troop of youthful-looking undercover Aurors investigate crimes in magic schools, magic universities and other teenage witch and wizard venues. PSA at the end is optional (but highly recommended! ;D )
